Swiss Cottage and Shuttleworth Summer Wedding | Lou & Dave
Lou and Dave planned their Summer Wedding at the Swiss Cottage and Shuttleworth years before it happened. I know they booked me to photograph it two years before the day arrived. Two years seems a long time but in the wedding world, it soon rolls around.
The happy couple tied the knot at the sweet location of the Swiss Cottage, a little-thatched house sitting on a hill within gardens at the Shuttleworth Collection in Bedfordshire. The cottage itself has a tiny little room for a cosy wedding ceremony with seating for about 20, and the fun part is that more guests can mingle by the windows around the outside of the cottage and still get a great view of the ceremony going on inside – so unusual!
I don’t think some of the guests realised that the Ceremony wasn’t actually a legal binding ceremony but was a love-filled one prepared and delivered by Rebecca a Civil Celebrant from White Rose Ceremonies. There were certainly quite a few tears flowing, the staff member in charge of the music missed her cue on the hunt for a tissue to wipe her tears.
We had the use of the gardens for a couple of hours which gave us time for refreshing drinks and a few photos. Everyone then embarked on the journey back to the main house for the wedding reception on two Vintage buses that are kept at the Shuttleworth Collection.
I could have explored the grounds with the newlyweds for hours, it’s so picturesque and some great hidden spots but there was dancing to be done. The amazing Matt Strafford Wedding Band was playing in the evening. I love being at a wedding with Matt, there is non-stop dancing.
