Lorna & Mark’s Sunny Wedding at The Barns Hunsbury Hill
Lorna & Mark |The Barns Hunsbury Hill Wedding
Spring is a beautiful time for a wedding, particularly when you get beautiful sunny days like Lorna & Mark had for their wedding at The Barns, Hunsbury Hill. What a venue too! This was my first visit to this Barn wedding venue and I do hope to be back very soon.
Situated on a hillside location overlooking the picturesque rolling countryside of South Northamptonshire, the Barns provide an idyllic setting for weddings, social and business events. Once a working farm, the site has been sympathetically renovated, retaining its beautiful exposed wooden beams, stonework and solid wooden flooring. It certainly is full of charm and has amazing sunsets in the evening. You all know I am a sucker for a sunset.
Now back to these ducks! There is a family tradition on Mark's side that rubber ducks make an appearance at all weddings. They were everywhere, every nook and cranny. Goodness knows how the staff found them all when they cleared away. I was expecting the cake topper to be ducks but no it was a rather cute miniature Lorna and Mark.
Both Lorna and Mark work in Graphic design so the attention to detail on all their signs and placings was perfect, as was the whole day. With the sun shining down everyone could make full use of the grounds while enjoying a glass or two of something refreshing. One of Mark's friends handmade and personalised the giant Jenga, which seemed to be in constant use.
After the speeches came the dancing, which everyone loves. I had been at weddings before with this band so knew we were in for a great night. My time ended with taking the newlyweds out for a sunset photo, see I told you I love a good sunset.
Thank you for sharing your day with me, I loved every minute x
From Lorna & Mark
Where did you first meet - DeMontfort University in Leicester. We met walking to our first lecture as we were on the same course (Graphic Design) and living in the same halls of residence.
Who asked who and how - Mark asked if I would come with him to buy a card for his Grandma. We then had a 5 star McDonald's meal and the rest is history.
Wedding planning, good, bad and fabulous - It was fun but stressful at times. So many things to organise and get working in sync, but had such great support from family and friends.
How was the day through your eyes? - Absolutely perfect! Best day of our lives. Having everyone we loved and cared about in one place to share our new adventure was so special.
What was your favourite part of the day - So many perfect parts that it's hard to pinpoint one. Top 3 being the ceremony and promises made, first dance, mingling with family and friends.
Any tips you learnt along the way which may be useful for other brides - Remember why you are getting married and don't let the small things stress you out. It's about the two of you and what makes you both happy.
Who were your suppliers?
Flowers - Green Room Flowers, Dress - WED2B but alterations were done by Dawn Bird Bridal Alterations, Hair and makeup - Lauren at Be Fabulous, Wedding cake - my Mum (Julie), Cake topper - Artlocke Designs,
