Hebe & Kerry | Congham Hall Wedding

I had been to Congham Hall near Kings Lynn for a family wedding many years ago. This was the first time I was photographing a wedding there and I have to say it really is beautiful. But not as beautiful as my two Brides Kerry & Hebe for their same sex wedding. The day started for me, meeting Hebe at her family’s house near Kings Lynn. This is where the reception was going to be held, a Farm Wedding, in a marquee in the fields to one side.  The sun shone down and the flowers looked amazing and smelt it too.

Kerry was having a chilled morning at her parents home and my 2nd for the day, Mark met them there. I think they spent a while chatting in the garden, passing the time as you do when you are that relaxed.

Both girls had an entourage of Bridesmaids and Best Women by their sides in a gorgeous pink and sliver colour scheme. Kerry arrived at Congham Hall first to see the registra and after Hebe had seen them there was the most beautiful moment as the door opened and they both got to see each other for the first time. Beaming smiles appeared on both of their faces. I have seen this happen before as Same Sex weddings but I hadn’t photographed a First Look.

After the ceremony where they became Mrs and Mrs we headed out into the gardens for a few family photographs before heading back to the farm fo begin the party. The girls travelled in a Vintage Jaguar with the top down for a while before the wind got too much.

Family and friends were on hand to help with drinks while guests enjoyed chatting and relaxing in the garden. The kids were having great fun on the bouncy castle and with the other games laid on for them.

The whole day had a wonderful relaxed feel about it, just like the girls, who once married, relaxed and started to enjoy their day. It was so relaxed, I started to think the first dance was never going to happen. I love having a bit of a boogie in the evenings, my feet were getting impatient.

In their words

Where did you first meet

On a hen do weekend for our mutual friend Sam.

Who asked who and how

Kerry asked Hebe. We went to Rome for a few days and then on the last night we were out on the balcony looking out across the city all lit up when Kerry popped the question!

How was day through your eyes?

It was like being in a big happy bubble, nothing phased us, we had a great day! We were both so chilled out in the morning even though we had both thought we’d be stressing and nervous.

What was your favourite part of the day

Our ‘first look’ at Congham Hall.

Any tips you learnt along the way which may be useful for other brides

Don’t sweat the small stuff! People just want to have a good time, they don’t care if your ribbon matches your dress/chair covers/napkins/whatever! Stay chilled out and remember to enjoy the day because it’s gone so quick
