The Real Royal Wedding at The Barns Hotel Bedford
Jenny & Jack | The Barns Hotel Bedford
The 19th May 2018 may be remembered for the Royal Wedding of Harry and Meghan but for Jenny and Jack, it was their Real Royal Wedding at The Barns Hotel Bedford.
Just on the outskirts of Bedford, The Barns has a stunning riverside location and a beautiful 13th-century Tithe Barn. This is where the ceremony was being held and when I arrived in the morning, 2 of the Bridesmaids and Jenny’s mum were busy decorating and sorting out all the well-planned details.
The boys, on the other hand, were having a much more relaxed morning and were enjoying last minute ironing duties and a full cooked breakfast. Sometimes I do think the boys get the bad side of the deal on a wedding day, they have so much time on their hands and that’s when the nerves can get hold. Girls are busy with hair and makeup and Lauren from Be Fabulous was well on schedule with Jenny and the bridal party.
In fact, it was such a relaxed morning there was even time to sit back and watch the Royal Wedding on the tv in the room. We all waited to see what ‘The Dress’ would be like.
Wedding mornings do rush by and it wasn’t long before Jenny headed to the barn on the arm of Dad with Jack waiting nervously to see his Bride.
Now I do love a confetti photo or two. They are always full of smiles and great expressions. Jack’s expression when he got a face full from the side was priceless. Drinks and canapes were served on the terrace overlooking the river before heading in for the wedding breakfast and the speeches. Jenny and Jack got engaged at Disneyland and many of the details had a Disney influence.
I’ve seen many many speeches over the years but using a Plenty of Fish profile as part of your Best Man speech was a very funny first for me.
Thank you for sharing your amazing day with me. Congratulations to you both.

Wedding planning, good, bad and fabulous
All ran smoothly, minor stresses which were literally over nothing. I feel very lucky with the help I had and the people around me who all helped which made it (almost) stress-free.
How was day through your eyes?
Perfect – more than I could have ever wished for!!
What was your favourite part of the day
Literally all of it -Loved having all friends and family together. Jack says seeing me for the first time ☺️
Any tips you learnt along the way which may be useful for other brides
Start early so it’s more enjoyable and less stressful. Don’t get stressed about the little things although the little touches are where I got a lot of compliments. Make it personal to you both get others involved. And most of all enjoy it all, the run-up and the day.
