Leicestershire Wedding Photographer | Johnathan & Francesca Family Farm Wedding
Johnathan & Francesca Leicestershire Family Farm Wedding
I first met Francesca and Johnathan on a glorious summer evening in May. We met at the stunning Normanton Church on Rutland water for their pre-wedding session. I would have loved for the wedding to have been here too but it was to be a Leicestershire Wedding at Jonathan's family home. Normally i would have met the couple before but as there was a distance between us, we had spoken on the phone initially.
It was a glorious sunny day back in July when I had the pleasure of photographing Jonathan and Francesca’s rural wedding on the farm of Jonathon’s family in Long Clawson, Leicestershire.
For me the day started at the gorgeous rustic farmhouse that had been rented for Francesca to get ready in along with her sister and chief bridesmaid, Bryony, and other family and bridesmaids. Family are very important and there were lots of photos of past generations around, watching down and making sure the day was running smoothly. At the same time my assistant photographer Dan headed off to photograph Jonathan who was getting ready at his parents’ home along with best man Mark who had flown over from New Zealand for the wedding. I'm not sure how much time was spent getting ready and how much time was spent at the pub, but they enjoyed the morning.
The service was held at St Remigius Church, a beautiful old church in the Leicestershire village of Long Clawson, near Melton Mowbray. The church was full to the rafters and we were only allowed to stay at the back. We were stood near a guy who had the most amazing voice and sang louder that any choir member.
Then it was off to the family farm to continue the celebrations in a marquee in the garden with the bridal party travelling a trailer pulled by a tractor. The whole day was wonderfully rustic yet sophisticated and quirky at the same time. There were bride & groom scarecrows, cows in the wedding photos and tractors for the younger children to play on. During the reception afternoon of drinks and canapes, the food that was being served had all been sourced around the British Isles or locally. There was a map in the marquee showing exactly where everything had come from. I must admit it did all look rather good. The table settings were Everest themed since that’s where Jonathan and Francesca met, the cake was made by Francesca’s Dad, Guy, who had never attempted anything similar before and the first dance was to the Blues Brothers complete with sunglasses!
Speeches are always an emotional time, laughs, smiles and the odd tear or two. These were no different. They started with the Father of the Bride, who had stumbled across the fact that a few of the tables had a drinking game going. If any specific was mentioned, they had to take a drink. I pity the ones who had 'lovely' as thier word as Guy eluded to the fact that the weather was lovely, the bridesmaids looked lovely and he hoped everyone was having a lovely lovely lovely lovely lovely day!
Such a wonderful celebration! Thanks Jonathan & Francesca, it was an absolute pleasure to photograph your wedding day, Liz x
