Anna & James | Stanwick Hotel Wedding

Being asked to Photograph Ann & James’ wedding at Stanwick Hotel, was so lovely as I already knew them from when I was the photographer at a family wedding, at the same venue, a year or so earlier. Being an Italian family wedding, they were so loving and welcoming, I couldn’t wait to be part of it again.

I arrived on a very sunny Sunday morning to find Anna’s Papa pacing the street, rather nervous about his forthcoming speech. Anna, on the other hand, was giggling away with the girls all having hair and makeup done. Bridal prep mornings always go quickly, never underestimate the amount of time you need for hair and makeup.

So, it wasn’t long before I was heading off to Stawick Hotel to meet James and the boys. Again, timing in so important and on this particular Sunday there were roadworks, everywhere.  I still arrived in time for some photos of the boys, guests arriving and to be there when Anna pulled up in the car from Warkton Wedding Cars.

Following a rather emotional, both with tears and laughter, ceremony in the conservatory everyone headed out to enjoy canapes in the sunshine. Family photos were taken by the lawn. Some of the non- English speaking relatives needed a little encouragement to step forward. These photos are so important, especially when the family have travelled from other Countries to be part of your day.

After the speeches and wedding breakfast, it was time for me to explore the grounds. You all know I love a sunset and sun flare and just at the right time, it was there. I think these are some of my favourite photos of the day. The light, the moment between them, it was all just perfect.

Congratulations to you both xx

More about Anna & James

Where did you first meet?

We first met at Charters bar in Peterborough after watching a band called “The Dizzy Miss Lizzies” it was their last performance as one of the band members was moving to Canada.

Who asked who and how

James asked on 30th sept 2016 by taking Anna out for an Indian to the Bollywood tiger in Yaxley for a meal. Then came home and with help from Anna’s daughter, Luisa proposed in candlelight in the garden with a speech. we both cried.

Wedding planning, good, bad and fabulous

Planning went well took 1 yr and 3 months but was well prepared and planned well in advance. intricate details stressed us both out and finalising everything over the last 3 months was pretty stressful. Right up to the day before if not hours before we were married.

How was day through your eyes?

Amazing, everything fell into place, few glitches but they didn’t ruin the day. Families all got on really well together, which gave the wedding an even more magical atmosphere that was just what we needed.

What was your favourite part of the day

Annas – my favourite part of the day was when my dad was walking me down the aisle and when I stood in front of James, having to say the vows. It was so overwhelming I couldn’t believe that the moment was happening it was quite surreal. James – My favourite part of the day was Finally getting to see Anna in her wedding dress as there had been so many fittings and appointments and adjustment meetings that I wasn’t apart of, so to finally see her in THE DRESS was quite something. Brought a few tears to the eyes.

Any tips you learnt along the way which may be useful for other brides
