Bassmead Manor Barns | Megan & Zach
Megan & Zach |Bassmead Manor Barns
I can only describe this Bassmead Manor Barn Weddings as beautiful! You know you are at an amazing wedding venue as soon as you turn in to the long drive up to the barn. Rolling countryside surrounds this idyllic wedding venue that’s close to the A1, Cambridge and Bedford.
The morning was the normal hustle and bustle of people arranging bits and everyone getting ready. Megan had been interviewed by Dave from BBC Radio Cambridge the day before and Megan’s Dad recorded it so we could listen to it on the day.
Fun, that was a big word for the day. Lots of games and activities scattered the courtyard at Bassmead. Not only used by the children but quite a few big kids too. I just had to get the happy couple on the Space Hoppers.
During the pre-wedding session, Megan was wearing a fabulous blue suede jacket. I asked her to bring it on the wedding day and she did. I knew it would make the perfect addition to her dress, so we headed off to the woods to start our photo session.
Thank you for letting me be a part of such an awesome day x
In their own words
Where you first meet
We first met when we were both still at school, we both studied in the same course and as Zach says we were left in an awkward position so just kind of had to talk and it all started from there. The teachers managed to even clock on when Zach was spending a lot of time suddenly studying!
Who asked who and how
Zach asked first, but it did take 6 months before he wore me down and I agreed to go out with him!
Wedding planning, good, bad and fabulous
I think mostly good, we found there were peaks and troughs where we had lots to do and then suddenly nothing. We moved into our first home just 8 weeks before the big day so that seemed rather chaotic and trying to organise both of those things. We had lots of help from people around us, particularly our mums which was amazing. We both really enjoyed all of the run-up and can’t think that there was really any bad.
How was day through your eyes?
Absolutely incredible! The most amazing day of our lives and there is not a single thing we would change! We loved having all of our amazing family and close friends around us and the bubble of excitement that came with it.
What was your favourite part of the day
There wasn’t a single part that was necessarily my favourite as every minute was incredible and not a single part we didn’t enjoy. A couple of points we loved in particular: Megan – the lead up with everyone in the morning, there were lots of us and it was busy but I loved that. Walking out of the ceremony as man and wife Photos where we just got to be together with you guys The sparklers Partying the night away
Any tips you learnt along the way which may be useful for other brides
Ask for books rather than cards and get people to write messages in the book. We had such a variety from tips on how to be a good husband, to books people have read with their children for us to enjoy hopefully with future children and classics such as sense and sensibility, also had books which were personal to people who gave them. Be calm!! We both felt so calm on the day and I think this helped us to enjoy it even more. You know why you’re getting married, the people there are who you want and ensure that everything is as you want it – it’s one time where it is acceptable to be a bit selfish. Book vendors early – you will then get the best! But also ensure they are the right kind of people for you, we clicked instantly with all of ours and they help make your day amazing!
