Bassmead Manor Barns | Matt & Sophie
Matt & Sophie
Bassmead Manor Barns Wedding
September is a month that marks the end of Summer and Autumn beginning. The fields have been cut and the leaves are turning from shades of green to wonderful rich reds and coppers. It can also bring a few showers and with showers comes rainbows and rainbows on your wedding day are a magical thing.
Matt & Sophie chose the stunning Bassmead Manor Barns for their wedding day. Everywhere was beautifully decorated and I loved the huge flower circle in the Rickety Barn for the ceremony. I couldn’t wait to see it full of smiling guests and these two stood at the front.
Rob, my assistant met up with the boys, while I headed up to the Bridal suite where hair and make up was in full flow. These moments in the morning are wonderful. There is always lots of giggles of excitement and anticipation of the day ahead.
We can’t be British without talking about the weather. Well, we had rain, literally the moment Matt & Sophie came through the door to be showered by confetti. This time it was confetti mixed with a few raindrops. It didn’t last long and we were soon doing the family photos.
After family photos, we headed around the grounds and were met with the most wonderful full rainbow, which perfectly framed Sophie.
Dancing followed speeches and the day carried on into the night. This wedding was beautiful from start to finish and I just loved how these guys were up for trying out some different types of photos, particularly at night. Yes we did waste a whole bottle of bubbles but it was worth it
Congratulations guys, thank you for letting me capture your wonderful day xxx

Wedding planning, good, bad and fabulous
Plenty of lists, some nights dedicated to wedding planning after work, some nights/days it was getting the motivation to do some planning. Getting satisfaction from ticking off on our to-do lists. Starting far out seemed to really help and avoiding any last-minute panic’s! Now finding ourselves not thinking about wedding planning or having a wedding on the mind very strange.
How was day through your eyes?
Simply the best day of our lives! Everything went perfect for us. Happy to say it did not go very quick!
What was your favourite part of the day
The ceremony was beautiful in the barn with the music from Lawrence. Evening, all our friends and family having a good dance and celebration with a G&T!
Any tips you learnt along the way which may be useful for other brides
Not to panic about not finding a dress straight away, have fun trying dresses on but don’t worry if you don’t find the one after trying lots on, I tried lots on when you know you know. Don’t worry about the weather we all want sunshine and dry and found myself checking the forecast in the build-up to the wedding almost every hour but we found the showers helped everyone mingle in the venue early on and get pictures with our arch, also getting some amazing photos with the rainbow! Have a chilled wedding morning, it’s a time to enjoy with your bridesmaids and family. Don’t sweat the small stuff!
