Bassmead Manor Barns – Laura & Mark

Bassmead Manor Barns | Laura & Mark

This was my second wedding at Bassmead Manor Barns and wow what a beautiful wedding it was. With suppliers like Wild Frost wedding flowers, Shades of White for the stunning Maggie Sottero dress and a beautiful Bride, Laura, the day was going to be perfect.

Meeting all the girls at home is always fun, there are lots of giggles and excitement. The boys are normally a bit more chilled and my assistant Roxy met up with them just a couple of streets away from the girls. We all met up together for the ceremony at Ramsey Church before heading off to the fabulous Bassmead Manor Barns near St Neots.

Laura and Mark arried before a lot of the guests, which gave us time to have a few photos with the car. The guests arriving late may have had somehting to do with the coach bringing them taking a wrong road, ending up in a field and many of the guests having to push it out. I missed that one but it would have made some great photos.

The weather was perfect and everyone could relax with drinks and canapes outside the gardens and patio area outside the Bridge Barn. Matt and Steve from Matt Strafford Duo were playing and singing, it’s alwyas great to see them at a wedding.

After the speeches and dinner it was time to explore the gounds. There are so many places around Bassmead that are perfect for photos. I love colours and textures so the barn doors with the rambling roses are always high on my list of area to use

With so many friends and family celebrating with the new Mr and Mrs it wasn’t long before the party started. When Matt starts singing the dance floor fills up. Even I am known to have a bit of a boogie around the dance floor.

Bassmead Manor Barns is a rustic yet sophisticated wedding venue set in the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside. With a mix of open, uninterrupted views and quirky features, Bassmead offers lots of great opportunities for your wedding photography. As a wedding photographer working in and around Cambridgeshire, it’s definitely on my list of favourite local venues. I really enjoy photographing weddings here and would love to hear from you if you’re looking for a Bassmead Manor Barns wedding photographer.

Congratulations guys, it really was a beautiful day.

In their words

Where did you first meet

Ramsey football club, approx. May 2011. I was only 18 & Mark 23!

Who asked who and how

Mark asked me to marry him on New Year’s Eve 2015 in a lovely restaurant in Venice. Mark even asked one of the waiters to record the whole thing on his phone, so we can always look back on it. (He is a romantic even if he doesn’t show it much!! :)) the whole restaurant applauded afterwards, we then went on to watch the New Year’s fireworks over the water & get so drunk we couldn’t find the boat back to the Venice Lido LOL)

Wedding planning, good, bad and fabulous

I have done most of the wedding planning, the good was when we first chose our date & booked the venue & church. The bad, panicking last minute worrying if we had all the finishing touches & the fabulous – the food tasting night at Bassmead was great, being new parents, we hardly get the chance to spend time alone together & that was the perfect excuse for a date night, drinking some wine & imaging what our wedding would actually be like.

How was day through your eyes?

The day was a wonderful blur! I was soooo nervous before coming into the church, although Mark said he wasn’t! Then onto Bassmead, straight to mingling under the sunshine with our guests … then anything after the first dance absolutely flew by. We wish we could do it all over again.

What was your favourite part of the day

Our favourite part was the drinks reception, with Matt playing, the sun shining & all our guests arriving.

Any tips you learnt along the way which may be useful for other brides

Don’t get too stressed out with buying so many extras and accessories – for me, the main things to have were good food, drink & music. That’s what your guests will remember.
