Wrest Park Bedford Wedding | Nikki & Paul

Nikki loves purple, i love purple too.  When Nikki and Paul came over to visit me she commented on my purple downstairs loo.  That’s when i knew we would get on really well. I wasn’t surprised when purple was the colour of their Wrest Park Wedding.

They actually booked me to photograph their wedding before they were engaged.  A little strange to arrange a wedding before he has popped the question but boy did he pop the question in the most fantastic way possible.  New Years Eve, dinner overlooking the Bellagio fountains in Vegas and all of it a surprise.   It makes my heart melt just thinking about it.

The wedding day arrived and so did the rain.  Oh weatherman!  It’s ok we embraced it and out came the umbrellas. The only change to the plan was that Nikki got a drive in a car to the church instead of walking.  Not that she was walking far as mum and dad live next to the cute little church in Maulden Bedfordshire.

Lee from Macdonald Jones Photography was my second shooter and he was great to have on board with me. While i spent time with Nikki and the girls, Lee headed down the road to meet up with Paul, his family and friends over breakfast.  Paul is a chef so breakfast was going to be a good meal.

After the ceremony and a few damp photos around the Church, we all headed off to the stunning Wrest Park.  This was used by Lilly Allen in her The Fear video.  It has grand staircases, majestic windows, abundant gardens and the beautiful Orangery which was the setting for the reception after the canapes in the main house.

After the meal and the speeches. Lee and I took the happy couple away for some photographs alone. Well we were joined by Richard the master of ceremonies who made sure Nikki and Paul were happily topped up with Champagne while we were out.  The rain ceased long enough for us to explore the stunning grounds.  What we hadn’t bargained for was just how much moisture and sandstone Nikki’s dress would absorb and turn a subtle shade of orange at the bottom.

I had an amazing day with Nikki and Paul. I left on cloud nine, a little damp around the edges but so honoured to have been part of such a wonderful day.  Thank you guys for asking me to capture your day.

I wish you both love and happiness together xx
