Sibson Inn – Gemma & Carl
Sibson Inn – Gemma & Carl
The Facebook message went something along the lines of…. We want you to be our wedding photographer but no one knows we’re engaged yet……….. i’m so excited! That pretty much sums up Gemma, she is amazing, bubbly, beautiful and ever so slightly crazy. Just my kind of Bride. They planned to have the wedding at Sibson Inn Peterborough and it was going to be a Winter Wedding. I kept my eye on Facebook eagerly awaiting the engagement news.
Fast forward to November and the big day arrived. Such a beautiful crisp and sunny winters day, perfect for a winter wedding. Gemma was getting ready at her Grandparent’s home in Thornaugh, more or less opposite the Church. Granny had meticulously decorated the church with flowers for the big day and with the sun streaming through the glass windows, it looked amazing.
During the morning of giggling and Champagne drinking Gemma also appeared on the Dave Weaver show on Cambridgeshire Radio as Bride of the week. Everyone cheered as thier names were mentioned.
I met up with a nervous Carl at the front of the Church waiting for his beautiful Bride to arrive and he would not be dissappointed. Gemma looked flipping amazing in her wedding dress.
After the ceremony we stayed behind for a few photos in and around the church before the happy couple zoomed off in a Maserati to celebrate with their friends and family and an awful lot of gin. Gin bottles adourned the tables and each table was named after a brand of Gin. Just my type of wedding!
Congratulations guys, what a wonderful wedding and I loved being a part of it xxx
In their own words
Where you first meet
In Chroma Sports when Carl made t-shirts for my first girls’ holiday, he was known for a few years as fit t-shirt boy, I didn’t even know his name!
Who asked who and how
He asked me, he sent me a note via my bridesmaid for a nail appointment, then another note to say meet him where we had our first kiss. It was like a treasure hunt, then I found him stood underneath a tree with a ring box.
Wedding planning, good, bad and fabulous
Wedding planning is an experience like no other! I have had some of the best and worst times! I have been so so lucky with my fabulous friends and family for helping me along the way and jumping in whenever I needed them, also all my suppliers too. The hardest part is picturing it all coming together! The tears and upset so so out way the good times, some of my favourite memories of the whole wedding has been the planning, normally as it led to drinking lots of gin!
How was day through your eyes?
Perfect! I know a lot of people say that, but it truly was perfect. I tried to be so chilled and not have a strict regime and I am so glad that I did, everything just flowed, and I could really enjoy myself as I wasn’t worried about timings and if things were on track or not. It was the best day of my life, it lived up to every expectation and so many more.
What was your favourite part of the day
What a hard question (can I have 3)!! The morning, in the craziness of getting hair, make up, dressed, breakfast the moments that I had with my parents, bridesmaids and grandparents will be ones I never forget. Next is saying our vows, looking into one another eyes, a feeling I can’t even describe. Finally, the evening, I sat at the top table all on my own with a large glass of wine and just watched everyone dancing, eating, drinking and just having fun it was amazing, all the planning and hard work had paid off and all my favourite people were enjoying it just as much as I was.
Any tips you learnt along the way which may be useful for other brides
Make your wedding day about you as a couple, it doesn’t matter if it’s not traditional or the done the right way do exactly what you two want. There was a couple of times people looked surprised at some of my ideas, the gin theme, the G&T toast but they were some of the best parts of the day so go with your gut it will always be right. Don’t try and do everything yourself – it won’t work and you will lose the plot! Always keep a smile on your face and enjoy every second, even when you want to self com bust! Most importantly enjoy your day, it’s the day you’ve dreamed of and planned for so don’t let it pass you by without getting stuck in! Don’t try and please everyone, say hello to everyone, just do your thing.
