Cambridgeshire Wedding Photographer
Qualified Status with The Guild of Photographers
From today i now have letters after my name. How exciting!! I can proudly put QGWP with the QGPP that i already have.
From today i now have 'Qualified Status' with The Guild of Photographers in Weddings.
I am absolutely delighted to have attained this title and to be among a select few in the country who also hold it. A lot of hard work, dedication, mentoring, training and working with some truly fabulous couples has helped my wedding photography gain such wonderful recognition. I thank everyone who has helped me on my journey.
The Guild defines Qualified status as:
“’Qualified’ status is aligned to standards of competence that reflect a level where the customer should be ‘pleased with the results’, when employing the services of a skilled tradesman (the photographer). In other words ‘Qualified’ indicates professional ‘competence’ to a level where the Guild is willing to recognise the photographer as an ambassador of the association, so those who achieve that level should be proud of doing so.”
In order to achieve the qualification I had to submit 21 wedding images, along with a written brief, & evidence of company insurance for review by the Guild’s panel of expert judges in the field. Those images were carefully selected from 3 weddings which I had photographed in 2014 & it was important that they displayed consistency, skill & technical ability.
To assess the application the Guild applies a very rigorous assessment process to determine the applicant’s photographic ability & customer service, to ensure they are providing a quality service for their clients.
As part of the detailed assessment criteria the judges are also looking for the following:
“The judges have set criteria to consider. The criteria are based around the fact that photography is a combination of art and science, the skills for which can be combined into distinct groups, bearing equal weight within the judging process. Below are those groups –
1. Subject and Story Telling
2. Composition and Creativity
4. Technical and Post Production excellence”
A big thank you to my husband who is my rock and without him i wouldn't be where i am today and my family who put up with me being out most of the summer. Also to Kevin Pengelly and the panel members of The Guild of Photographers, who have mentored me and pushed me forward with training. Thank you to all the friends i have met along the way, their support and their guidance. Not forgetting all my wonderful Brides and Grooms who chose me to capture their beautiful weddings and create lasting memories for them.
